Application Process

Applicant congregations may download, print and complete the Membership Application Form on this web site, with guidance from a Membership Committee member.  Fax the completed Form to each of the Committee Members along with the signed Resolution.  The Resolution must affirm the congregation's belief in the Association's Theological Statement and the Statement of Core Values and formally request affiliation with the Association of Western Anglican Congregations.  The Resolution may be adopted by the vestry on behalf of the congregation and signed by the Senior Warden, or if no vestry exists, the Resolution may be signed by the lay leader of the congregation after a confirming vote of all the members.  A sample of the Resolution is depicted on the Application Form.

The Membership Committee shall record receipt of the application, review it for accuracy and completeness and certify that the congregation is eligible for membership.  The Committee shall also be responsible for vetting the clergy (if any) and the congregation to ensure that the applicant congregation and its clergy meet the requirements for membership in the Association.  Additionally, it is anticipated that the Membership Committee may meet with the members of the congregation to not only verify their qualifications, but also to conduct a needs assessment to determine what assistance they will need in their efforts to align themselves with the Association.
