Our Executive Committee

The Executive Committee is comprised of twelve members of the House of Delegates who are elected to lead our congregations in a Godly community of mutual support and cooperation. The Executive Committee is the executive arm of our House of Delegates; it acts under authority delegated to it by the House of Delegates and is accountable to the House of Delegates for its management of the affairs of the Association.

The Executive Committee meets approximately monthly, though its Chairman and many others are actively managing the Association's affairs between meetings. As with the House of Delegates itself, membership on the Executive Committee -- six clergy persons and six laity -- reflects the canonical and geographic diversity of our member congregations. The work of the Executive Committee is:

  1. To create the organizational structure of an orthodox Anglican body, beginning in California and Arizona;
  2. To identify and form needed committees and task groups, delegate their tasks, and manage their progress;
  3. To communicate with our archbishops and bishops, and with our constituency; and
  4. To foster unity among Western Anglicans.

Unity is fostered person-to-person, when people come together to work together and minister together. Therefore, our standing committees and ad hoc task groups reflect the canonical and geographic diversity of Western Anglicans, too. Excepting certain clergy matters, none of the members of the Executive Committee serve on any of our committees or task groups, since the work of the Executive Committee is to envision and to manage our overall progress.

The Executive Committee appoints the chairpersons and the individual members of our various standing committees and ad hoc task groups, insuring thereby that ownership among our member congregations is spread both canonically and geographically.

The members of the Executive Committee are the directors of our corporation, The Association of Western Anglican Congregations, a California religious nonprofit corporation. They elect its officers. The Chairman of the Executive Committee serves as president of the corporation.
